Besides Chamonix being one of my favorite places on planet earth… I’ve had approximately 6 people ask me this week where they can stay in Chamonix, France for really cheap, and boy, do I love being the tour guide and feeling like the master to the Chamonix valley. But to the other people that want to know where the best places to stay that are worthwhile and a good investment… here’s a list.

high seasons vs. low seasons
Depending on when you’re going to Chamonix or at least the Chamonix valley, the prices are going to be significantly different. For example, I saw a high season price at a hotel is 120€ vs “medium” season when it’s 95€.

1. GÎTE MICHEL FAGOT
This gîte is located in Les Houches, but only a free bus stop away from Chamonix center! They serve breakfast and dinner. Everyone I know who has stayed here has commented on the really good homemade food! Located in a beautiful little village with mountain views! Also known for TMB hikers, and located right next to the start of the TMB(Tour du Mont Blanc).
Pricing: 25€-80€ per night
2. LE CHAMONIARD VOLANT
This is a hostel that is about a 10-15 minute walk from Chamonix center.
48 beds in rooms of 4, 6 or 8 and a large dormitory of 18. Rooms with washbasin, bolsters with pillowcase and blankets.
Don’t forget to bring your sleeping bag or meat bag! Possibility to rent sheets on the spot: 6 euros per person and per stay.
Pricing: 21€-24€ per night
3. Alpenrose
Alpenrose is a hostel that is close to Chamonix center. It has a self-catering kitchen and large space with a garden and terrace.
Pricing: 45€-55€ per night
4. Chalet Hôtel La Sapiniere
The Chalet Hôtel la Sapiniere is only a 5 minute walk from Chamonix center and located on a very little street that has direct access to the Brévent-Flégère ski area. This hotel is also owned by a family since it first opened.
Pricing: 80€-175€ per night
5. Auberge de Jeunesse Chamonix Mont-Blanc
Located only a few minutes walking distance from Chamonix center! This place is at the foot of the Bossons glacier, facing the Aiguille du Midi mountain. It is a comfortable and warm living space. If it is good to have breakfast on the terrace in summer, in winter, it is by the fireplace that we like to meet after a day of skiing. In the youth hostel’s restaurant, the chef offers cheese and regional specialties.
