Grilled Vegan Tofu with Peanut Sauce

I’m writing this recipe down, so I don’t forget! Hahaha – In all seriousness, I make this recipe so often I don’t understand why I don’t have it memorized!

Growing up one of favorite things to do on a rainy day with my family was to order takeout at a thai restaurant and set up a “picnic” inside our home. My absolute favorite part of the whole experience was eating grilled tofu with peanut sauce!

This recipe is vegan! It’s super easy to make, and tastes amazing. I personally enjoy making this recipe with family or friends because it’s a “fun type of recipe”. 🙂 This is definitely one of my go-to recipes when I’m feeling tired, homesick, or my “just got back from a run, and I need good food.”

To grill the tofu I usually use an airfryer. Now you can use an airfryer or you can grill. I bet you could even stick ’em in the oven! Possibilities are endless in the kitchen, as long as you’re having fun. 😉

Grilled Vegan Tofu with Peanut Sauce

Get ready to taste this easy grilled vegan tofu with peanut sauce recipe!


  • For the Tofu
  • 1 Block of Tofu (drain and press the water*)

  • 2 Tablespoons of Soy Sauce

  • 2 Tablespoons of Water

  • 1 Tablespoon of Maple Syrup

  • 1 Teaspoon of Paprike

  • 1/2 Teaspoon of Garlic Powder

  • 1/2 Tablespoon of Hot Sauce*

  • For the Peanut Sauce (Spicy)
  • 1/2 Cup of Peanut Butter

  • 1/2 Cup of Coconut Milk

  • 2 Tablespoons of Soy Sauce

  • 2 Tablespoons of Lime Juice (about 1 full Lime)

  • 1 Tablespoon of Hot Sauce

  • 1/4 Teaspoon of Garlic Powder


  • For the Tofu
  • After the tofu is pressed, cut the block of tofu into many small cubes or into sizes/shapes you would like to eat.
  • In a bowl, mix together all the ingredients. Once mixed, add the tofu and cover/stir the tofu, so the tofu is covered with the sauce. (It would be best if you let the tofu soak up the sauce for 30 minutes, but you can also skip this if you’re on a time limit).
  • Once the tofu is mixed in with the sauce cook and grill your tofu on a hot pan until the tofu is crispy. You can also use an airfryer: set the airfryer to 170 celsius (338 fahrenheit), and cook for about 15-20 minutes.
  • For the Peanut Sauce
  • Mix all the ingredients in a bowl or some sort of storage unit (incase you have extra). You can store the sauce in the fridge.
  • All Together
  • Once everything is cooked and done: enjoy eating!


  • Tofu: I just use a few paper towels to press and drain the water from the tofu! Easy and quick!
  • Hot Sauce: Adjust the hot sauce to how you like…I prefer more spiciness!
  • You can add cilantro, roasted peanuts or lime wedges for garnishes!
