The ninth edition of the annual Youth Skyrunning World Championships. For ages between 15-23 years old.

The Official 2025 Youth Skyrunning World Championship location is Fonte Cerreto, Gran Sasso Italy, officially  announced by the International Skyrunning Federation.

August 1 – VERTICAL – 3.8 km long with 1,033m vertical climb 

August 3 – SKYRACE – Youth C & U23s: 23 km long with 2,226m vertical climb OR Youth A & B: 13 km long with 1,300m vertical climb

This event you will be representing your home country, Canada. This event includes: 

  • 6 nights of Lodging in Gran Sasso (you MAY share a room OR bed with another athlete)
  • All meals covered (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
  • Transportation from Rome Airport to Gran Sasso and the return from Gran Sasso to Rome Airport
  • 1x Race shirt
  • 1x Training shirt
  • 1x Casual shirt 
  • Race and Registration Fees
  • Extra Swag

+ Coaching and Training Advice if needed beforehand 

This event DOES NOT COVER

  • Extra food outside of the 6 days 
  • Transportation to Rome (plane ticket, train ticket, etc….)
  • Lodging in Rome 
  • Running clothes or equipment 
  • Phone plan
  • Travel insurance 
  • Medical/health insurance

This event costs a total $1,100 USD.

The first installment will be $500, and this is NON-REFUNDABLE. This will be due May 15th, 2025. 

The second installment will be $600 USD due June 15th, 2025.

Naia Tower-Pierce is the coach of Canadian Youth Skyrunning Team and oversees the athletes. 

Ryan Kerrigan and John Kerrigan are the US Youth Skyrunning Team coaches, and are also able to give guidance and support to Team Canada while at the event. 

In addition, there tends to be other USA and Canadian Team Leaders who come to oversee the event. 

Yes, parents/partners/siblings can come.

However, it is more encouraged that athletes have the privilege to experience this race/journey solo and independently. It’s encouraged to allow athletes to explore the mountains, the country, meet other teams, and make friends without the added pressure of parents/partners/siblings.

10:15 – Arrive at Leonardo da Vinci Rome Fiumicino Airport for Bus to Gran Sasso
12:30-13:00 – Arrive in Gran Sasso and check-in at hotel
14:00 – Shake-out run/explore area/take gondola up 
18:30 – Ice breakers/Team meeting

THURSDAY, JULY 31 2025

8:00-12:00 – Explore Mountains/Easy Hike or Walk
18:00 – Team presentation and opening ceremony

FRIDAY, AUGUST 1 2025

8:00-9:00 – VERTICAL bib delivery
From 10:00 – VERTICAL start
17:30 – VERTICAL prize giving ceremony
18:00 – SKY bib delivery
